Our Zoom Kids Club is for kids aged 0 to 12 yrs (pre secondary school age) and currently runs every Monday, Wednesday & Friday from 4pm to 5pm unless otherwise stated. All activities are supported by BSL/English Interpreters and captioning available on request. Our programme is as follows:

Zoom Youth Group

Our Zoom Youth Group is from 3 pm to 4 pm every Tuesday during the Summer break and 5 pm to 6 pm in term time unless otherwise stated. All activities are supported by BSL/English Interpreters and captioning is available on request.

WSDCS Pantomimes

This year we are delighted that we can return to the theatre and have an outing to an amazing BSL-interpreted pantomime!

We have planned a trip to the King's Theatre, Glasgow to see 'Cinderella' on Tuesday, 14th December at 7pm. Again another fantastic outing organised by us and funded by Better Breaks Short Break Fund. We are hugely grateful to the Short Breaks Fund for supporting this event and we look forward to seeing you all there....Oh, yes we do!!!

Tickets: Adult £10.00 & Child £5.00 which includes Buffet, Entertainment & Ceilidh Callers with BSL Interpreters in attendance.

WSDCS are hosting a family ceilidh at the David Lloyd West End Club on 11th January. As well as good food, great entertainment & dancing we will also have a raffle. Donations so far include gifts or vouchers from River Island, House of Fraser, M & D's Theme Park, the Disney Store & Ayr Farm Park to name but a few. SUMMER TRIPS 2019!

It's time for our annual Summer Trips!!!
Another year has passed and it's time again for us all to get together and have some fun! This year we will be going to Ayr Farm Park (9th July 2019), 5 Sisters Zoo (16th July 2019) and M&Ds Theme Park (23rd July 2019). Booking forms have been sent by email; posted on our Facebook page; or are available on request so please read it carefully, complete it and return it to us by 2nd July 2019.

Please note the coaches will depart promptly at 10am from Caledonian University opposite Buchanan Street Bus Station, Cowcaddens Road. Please meet no later than 9:45 am for all trips; Coach will depart venues at 3pm

NDCS Parents Information Session & BSL (Scotland) Act Update

NDCS would like to invite you to go along to a parents information session on Monday the 3rd of June at 6.30-8.30pm. Tea and Coffee and biscuits from 6pm.
The aim of this session is to support parents/carers to become more confident in participating in decision making and campaigning. It focusses on how to get your message across, what opportunities there are to engage with decision makers and how to get involved with these opportunities. It will discuss the BSL Act as one of the opportunities to get involved in decision making and influence services in local areas. The overall objectives are to provide parents/carers with an understanding of:

Participation. Introduce parents/carers to various levels of participation and how they can become more involved with decision making at policy level.
Empowerment. To inform participants of the legal frameworks which support their right to campaigning.
Rights. Rights of children, young people and their parents/carers.
Identifying and creating change. How campaigning and consultation can make this happen.

We hope by the end of the session Parents/carers who attend will have an increased confidence in themselves and their ability to influence change. NDCS Deaf Friendly Watersports & Cycling

NDCS, in partnership with Scottish Disability Sport are holding a Deaf Friendly Swimming, Come Try Day for watersports and cycling!
Deaf young people have the chance to try: canoeing, sailing, kayaking, power boating, bell boating & cycling.
Come and experience different sports in a safe, fun and supportive environment with help from fully qualified deaf-aware instructors.

Glasgow Science Centre - Deaf Science Club

Deaf Science Club

Due to popular demand, Glasgow Science Centre are running a second Deaf Science Club starting on Saturday 21st of April.
In partnership with Dr Audrey Cameron, Glasgow Science Centre brings you Deaf Science Club - a fortnightly science club created for Deaf, BSL users and hearing impaired young people. Budding scientists aged between 5 - 14 years old can explore the Universe in the Planetarium, see live science shows full of spectacular demonstrations and get hands on in workshops. Club membership costs £36 per person which includes entry to 6 sessions. The block of six sessions takes place on a Saturday starting on 21st of April.

Fancy being involved with a brand new CBBC TV show?! Do you want to challenge yourself? Fancy tackling a series of physical and mental games? Are you aged 9-13?

On Tuesday, the BBC Scotland and met with the Children's team. They are developing a new thrilling fantasy adventure gameshow for 9-13 year olds. They need young people of all abilities to apply and take part!

Applicants will be expected to immerse themselves in a world that adopts traditional values, so be prepared to have your bravery, teamwork and problem solving skills put to the test.

If you think you can do it, then get your application going!

The closing date for applications is THIS week: 19th May at Midnight (I know it's not a lot of time!) with auditions at the end of the month in Glasgow.

New outreach in Shettleston for families!

Every 4th Sunday and will carry on through the holidays.

This is an opportunity for deaf children and their families to meet up with other families, in a nice relaxing atmosphere, where they can share experiences and build friendships for the future.

Sky Academy Skills Studios

Have you ever wanted to create your very own TV report based on a subject you were interested in?


Good news!
There is a fantastic event coming up soon from Sky Academy Skills Studios!


This is for those in high school and upwards. From this young students can work with the team of experts, latest cutting edge technology, green screens, bespoke touch screen edit tables and broadcast quality cameras.


We hope to inspire young people with this Sky Academy experience and enrich their learning about the Studios.


The day and time of this event will be on the 5th of April from 1:30p to 4pm.


However, there are limited places for this outing!
It will be on during the Easter break.


As a coach will pick us up and bring us back, the charge for the coach is non-refundable and there will be a BSL interpreter available.

Partners In Policymaking 2016 - 2017

Partners in Policymaking is an Internationally recognised Leadership Development Programme for parents of disabled children (up to the age of 18) & disabled adults, including people with learning difficulties, mental health issues, autism, sensory impairments & physical impairments.
This programme is a chance for participants to gain the knowledge, skills & confidence they need to campaign & advocate for better treatment & social justice for disabled people within our society.

Programme is free to particpants and consists of 8 sessions starting Friday, 30th September 16 & Saturday 1 October 16 and will meet once a month until May 17. 40 places are available.

Getting to Know GIRFEC BSL Film Series

The Health and Social Care Alliance Scotland (The ALLIANCE) Getting To Know GIRFEC Project in partnership with Scottish Council on Deafness (SCoD), Solar Bear Limited, Facilat-46 (Fac46) and Scottish Government last week launched a unique five part film series which aims to explain Getting It Right For Every Child (GIRFEC) and what it means for children and young people in Scotland.

Using British Sign Language (BSL) as the primary language with speech overlay and subtitles, this project aims to be accessible to as many children, young people and their families / carers as possible throughout Scotland.

The five parts are:

2. Wellbeing as defined by the Scottish Government in the Children and Young People Act 2014

3. The Named Person

4. The Lead Professional

5. The Child's Plan
