Lipreading Awareness Week 2016

Lipreading Awareness Week 2016

This week marks the start of Lipreading Awareness Week 2016 (12th-16th September).

Organised by the Association of Teachers of Lipreading to Adults (ATLA), this week is an opportunity to raise awareness of lipreading and for people to attend taster sessions across the country.

The theme of this year's campaign is restaurants, and ATLA is encouraging proprietors to choose a day next week to turn off their music, turn up the lights and use tablecloths to encourage better communication and lipreading. ATLA hopes this will lead to some restaurants becoming hearing-friendly.

To find out more about the week or to find out if a free lipreading taster session (Find website below) is taking place near you, visit http://www.altalipreading.org.uk or email . For more information about lipreading visit our website.

There are lipreading quizzes, stories from lipreading students and other communication tips!
