Opportunity for Volunteers
NSPCC Scotland's facebook and twitter posts are adverting a volunteer information meeting for deaf volunteer counsellors in Glasgow. Follow this link for a video of Paul Hull, a current deaf volunteer talking about his experience so far. https://youtu.be/cW6te2OLcww
Childline Glasgow is really keen to have more deaf volunteers trained and supporting children. The minimum age to apply is 16, you do not have to have any specific qualifications although you must be able to communicate in written English as currently we support children online through email and 1-2-1 chat (like instant messenger). The training is 10 weeks and will be fully interpreted in BSL.
They are also looking for communication shift supports - these would be hearing people who are either qualified BSL interpreter, have level 6 BSL or CODA's. Please see a video with two of our volunteers explaining their experience of this role. https://youtu.be/Fw_yqd1LozQ

The latest volunteer information meeting for deaf volunteers will be on 09/07/2019 at 6.30pm in the Glasgow Childline base. Templeton House, 62 Templeton Street, Glasgow, G40 1DA. If you, or anyone you know would be interested in attending, please contact
